Business Operations Analyst

Business Operations Analyst

Modern Operators · Remote · Contract to start, full-time track · Reports to: Director of Fulfillment

The Role in One Paragraph

We're hiring a Business Operations Analyst to own the numbers behind our client engagements. You'll build the weekly operations report, keep the leadership dashboards accurate, and find the process gaps that slow our team down. You'll work directly with the Director of Fulfillment, the Client Engagement Manager and the Implementation Lead. This is not a data-entry seat. You own the report and the recommendations that come out of it.

Who We Are

Modern Operators is the operations partner for founder-led businesses. Founders come to us bottlenecked. Their business runs on tribal knowledge, the owner is the glue holding it together, and growth has stalled because everything routes through one person.

We install a Company Operating System. Built on Notion, layered with custom AI agents. Processes, standards, roles, dashboards, and the knowledge a team and an AI need to actually execute. We help founders stabilize, optimize, and scale their operations.

We're not theorists. We've built and sold companies, and we run our own business on the exact system we install for clients.

How We Operate

These are the values we hire and fire against.

  • Clarity over complexity. Every system, process, and message should make things simpler. If it adds confusion, we rethink it.

  • Founder empathy. We build what founders actually need. No fluff. No theory.

  • Leverage through systems. Automate the repeatable. Document the critical. Empower the team.

  • Adaptability. The tools and the market change constantly. So do we.

  • Results, not rituals. We care about outcomes, not process for process's sake.

  • Transparency. Radical visibility, internally and with clients.

We're remote and asynchronous. That means we hire people who move without being chased. Do the work, communicate clearly, help businesses systematize.

What You'll Own

  • The weekly operations report for every active client engagement, sent on time with numbers checked against the source databases.

  • The leadership dashboards in Notion, with views that answer the questions leaders ask each week.

  • Finding repeat delays, rework and handoff failures in engagement data, with a short recommendation for each.

  • Process documentation in our Knowledge Base, written so someone else can run the process.

  • AI-assisted drafts of reports and summaries, checked against the data before anyone sees them.

  • Early warning to the Director of Fulfillment when a metric moves the wrong way, with the cause and a recommended fix.

What Success Looks Like

First 30 days

  • You've learned how our engagements are tracked and which numbers leaders use. You've shadowed the weekly report and you're updating dashboard views on your own.

First 60 days

  • You're producing the weekly report without hand-holding. You've found and written up your first three process gaps.

First 90 days

  • You own the weekly report and the dashboards end to end. At least five processes are documented, and one recommendation you made has been put into use.

What You Bring

  • 3+ years in operations, analytics or business reporting. Any industry. Agency, SaaS, or services background is a plus.

  • Reporting you can point to. You've built a recurring report or dashboard that leaders used, and you can name a number it moved.

  • Spreadsheet and database skills. Comfortable with formulas and with a database tool such as Notion or Airtable. Notion experience is a plus.

  • Daily AI use. You use Claude or ChatGPT in real work and you check the output against the data.

  • Documentation discipline. You write clearly and capture the steps as you go.

  • Remote track record. You've succeeded remotely and you manage your own hours and priorities without supervision.

  • Solution oriented. You bring the problem, the options, and your recommendation. Not just the problem.

Nice to have:

  • Experience inside a client services or agency delivery model.

  • Experience with dashboards in Notion or a similar tool.

Location and Hours

United States preferred. We're also open to candidates in Colombia, the Philippines, and Central or South America.

Whatever your location, you must work US Central Time hours.

Who Thrives Here

You'll do well if you like ownership, you'd rather send a good report today than a perfect one next week, and you're comfortable working in a company that is itself still being built. You document as you go. You're direct in writing and you don't take direct feedback personally.

Who Shouldn't Apply

  • You want detailed daily direction and a manager checking in on you.

  • You're looking for a client-facing role. This seat works with our team's data, not with clients.

  • You prefer one-off analysis to reports that run every week.

  • You're a software developer looking for an engineering seat. This is operations reporting, not coding.

  • You dislike documenting your work.

  • You're skeptical of AI tools and don't want to use them daily.

  • You can't work US Central Time.

Compensation

$80,000 to $100,000 per year, depending on experience and location. We start every hire as an hourly contractor for a pilot period, then move to a full-time arrangement once both sides are confident.
