Modern Operators · Remote · Contract to start, full-time track · Reports to the Sales Director
The Role in One Paragraph
We're hiring an Account Executive (Inbound Sales) to turn the leads our marketing brings in into signed clients. You'll own the path from new lead to closed deal: working inbound leads, booking opportunities with prospects, running discovery and sales calls, moving deals through the pipeline, and closing them. You'll work directly with the Sales Director. This is not a cold-calling seat and it is not a support seat. You own the outcome.
Who We Are
Modern Operators is the operations partner for founder-led businesses. Founders come to us bottlenecked. Their business runs on tribal knowledge, the owner is the glue holding it together, and growth has stalled because everything routes through one person.
We install a Company Operating System. Built on Notion, layered with custom AI agents. Processes, standards, roles, dashboards, and the knowledge a team and an AI need to actually execute. We help founders stabilize, optimize, and scale their operations.
We're not theorists. We've built and sold companies, and we run our own business on the exact system we install for clients.
How We Operate
These are the values we hire and fire against.
Clarity over complexity. Every system, process, and message should make things simpler. If it adds confusion, we rethink it.
Founder empathy. We build what founders actually need. No fluff. No theory.
Leverage through systems. Automate the repeatable. Document the critical. Empower the team.
Adaptability. The tools and the market change constantly. So do we.
Results, not rituals. We care about outcomes, not process for process's sake.
Transparency. Radical visibility, internally and with clients.
We're remote and asynchronous. That means we hire people who move without being chased. Do the work, communicate clearly, and keep the pipeline honest.
What You'll Own
Work every inbound lead the same day it arrives, and keep going until it is booked, qualified out, or lost.
Book sales opportunities with prospects and confirm each call so people show up.
Run discovery and sales calls that find the founder's real bottleneck and show how a Company Operating System solves it.
Work the sales pipeline in the CRM. Every open deal has a dated next step.
Follow up on proposals until the prospect decides, changing the message and channel when a deal goes quiet.
Close deals, get agreements signed, and hand a clean record to Fulfillment.
Keep CRM data accurate and report pipeline, conversion and closed revenue to the Sales Director every week.
What Success Looks Like
First 30 days
You've been through our internal Company OS and know our offer, lead flow, pipeline stages and CRM. You've sat in on live sales calls and you're working inbound leads the same day they arrive.
First 60 days
You're running discovery and sales calls on your own and booking your own opportunities. Every open deal in your pipeline has a dated next step.
First 90 days
You own your pipeline from new lead to signed agreement, and you're working to the close-rate and revenue targets you agreed with the Sales Director.
What You Bring
Closing experience: 2+ years closing deals, ideally B2B or services sales, and you can show your numbers.
Discovery skill: You ask the questions that surface the real problem before you pitch the solution.
Follow-up discipline: You keep a deal moving with persistence and variety, not the same message on repeat.
CRM habit: You log calls, stages and outcomes the same day, so the pipeline can be trusted.
Clear communicator: Strong on the phone and on video, and clear in writing.
Remote track record: You've succeeded in a remote role before and you manage your own hours and priorities without supervision.
Solution oriented: You bring the problem, the options, and your recommendation. Not just the problem.
Fast learner on business and tech: New tools, new niches, new systems. You get up to speed quickly.
Nice to have:
Experience selling services, agency work or software to founder-led businesses.
Experience with GoHighLevel or a similar CRM.
You use AI tools in your daily work.
Location and Hours
Remote. Whatever your location, you must work US Central Time hours.
Who Thrives Here
You'll do well if you like ownership, you'd rather ship something imperfect and improve it than wait for perfect, and you're comfortable working in a company that is itself still being built. You enjoy the work of a real conversation with a founder more than the work of a script. You're direct in writing and you don't take direct feedback personally.
Who Shouldn't Apply
Be honest with yourself here. It saves us both time.
You want detailed daily direction and a manager checking in on you.
You need an office and coworkers around you to stay motivated.
You're looking for a stable, defined role that won't change for two years.
You want a cold-calling or outbound-prospecting role. This seat works inbound leads.
You dislike logging your work in the CRM.
You can't work US Central Time hours.
Compensation
$70,000 to $95,000 per year, depending on experience and location.
